Just because you call Southern California home doesn’t mean you can’t have fun in the snow. And you don’t even need to travel to make it happen. Here at Long Beach Ice, we offer quality snow productions that can give you a winter wonderland all year round.

Of course, if you are going to order one of our snow productions, you should make the most of it. Just making a snowman won’t do. To help, we have made a list of 10 fun faux snow play ideas Southern Californians will love.

  1. Make Ice Cream

When it comes to making ice cream, faux snow is better than the real thing because it is cleaner and we can control the flakes so you get the perfect level of fluffiness. There are many recipes you can use to make snow ice cream, and lots of ways to modify it with different flavors, mix-ins, and toppings. Have fun and embrace your inner foodie.

  1. Hold a Snow Sculpture Contest

Just making snowmen might not be that exciting, but making snow sculptures can be. You can kick things up a notch by using paint or food dye to color your sculptures, and turning it into a competition is always fun. If you need any inspiration, we are glad to help. After all, we are experts at creating ice sculptures, so snow sculptures aren’t beyond our realm of expertise.

  1. Go Sledding

Not all snow is good for sledding, but since we can customize the snowflakes created, we can assure that your snow is. All we need to do is find a good location and everyone can have a blast. This is one of those experiences that everyone should have at least once in their life, and we are glad to make it happen.

  1. Have a Snowball Fight

This one is a classic, and with good reason: snowball fights are super fun! Much like the snow sculptures, you can turn this into a friendly competition. And since we can control the environment, you don’t need to worry about things like dangerous debris in the snow causing injuries.

  1. Paint the Snow

There are many ways you can do this, but we like using powdered drink mixes and spray bottles. Put different colors of drink mix in various bottles, add water, shake, and then get to spraying. Use the different nozzle settings to create different types of “brush strokes” so you can really make a snow masterpiece.

  1. Use Molds to Make Cakes

If you already have the spray bottles for painting, you might as well go ahead and make snow cakes. All you need are cake molds and your spray bottles with colors. Mold the snow much like you would sand and then paint it to get the effect you want for your cake.

  1. Do a Scavenger Hunt

This one is always a big hit. Using food dye or drink mixes, create colored ice cubes and then hide them in the snow. Have everyone search through the snow for them, and whoever finds the most wins. And if you would like, we can create the ice for you as well.

  1. Use Beach Toys

Snow works a lot like sand, so let your beach toys do double-duty. Make snow castles, fill up buckets, and just approach the snow production like a winter beach. It is fun and since you likely have the items on hand already, it costs you nothing.

  1. Make Candy

We already covered how to make ice cream, but what about snow candy? Believe it or not, you can make that too, and it is very easy to do. Maple syrup is the most common ingredient in snow candy, but don’t be afraid to get creative.

  1. Create Potato Head Snowmen

Finally, if you have Mister Potato Head items at home, bring them to the production. All you need to do are create the potato shape out of snow and then add the face, arms, and feet. It is simple, but kids love it.
